NetEnt’s Dragon Island Game

Dragon Island by NetEnt is one of those games that you may not truly appreciate until it comes time to actually play it. It doesn’t necessarily stand out through the logo alone in the face of competition from NetEnt classics like Starburst, yet once you get going you’ll soon discover that it is actually one of the most enjoyable games in the entire NetEnt range. There are fifteen pay lines and the dragons themselves are most definitely the stars of the show, serving as they do as the highest value symbols on the game and being backed up by the more traditional playing card icons at the lower end of the pay table.

Win Both Ways and a Pair of Wild Cards

One of the very best things about Dragon Island, at least within the base game, is that players can win both from left to right and right to left. So, while fifteen win lines may seem to be a little on the low side, it actually ends up being closer to thirty when everything is taken into account. As you’d expect, choosing to activate the win both ways option will double the cost of each spin, but it does come with a handy bonus in the form of the golden wild.

Dragon Island plays host to two different wild cards, with one being green and the other being the aforementioned golden version. The green one is about as standard as you could expect, filling in the gaps in combinations and being available whether playing normally or with both ways active. As noted, the golden one only comes into play when both ways are in play and it too serves as a standard wild. The major difference is that when it forms part of a winning combination, it will also apply a multiplier of between two and eight times to the prize value.

Volcano Free Spins

The base game features are great but the game would feel incomplete without a special additional bonus and that comes into play whenever the players lands three or more volcano symbols in either mode of play. More volcanos are definitely merrier as three will award ten spins, four offer twenty and the full five will lead to a massive round of fifty free games. These aren’t just no cost versions of the base game spins either, as one reel will be selected prior to each spin to turn completely wild. As if that wasn’t enough, you can also pick up further free games at the same rate with additional combinations of volcano symbols.

Even a few years after release, Dragon Island continues to be one of the most unique games around and it is for that reason that we can’t do anything other than recommend it highly! Get a feel for the difference between the two game modes and take a shot at the fifty free spins all with no risk by playing the full game right here at Games Mania!
