Fisticuffs by NetEnt

Boxing games aren’t exactly numerous even if you’ve got an account with every online casino out there right now, with Playtech’s Rocky being the only one that actually comes to mind aside from this one. Fisticuffs is different in many ways, not least because it is an original creation and also because it seems to be set in the early part of the twentieth century. We’re pretty sure that there will end up being a Boxing Star game from Microgaming at some point given the growth of that particular series, but in the meantime let’s take a closer look at what fans of the Queensbury Rules have in store on this one!

It all kicks off in pretty standard fashion, with ten lines and symbols that won’t necessarily take your breath away but certainly can do a job. There are two boxers on the board and both serve as wild cards. The larger of the two is called the straight wild and he appears regularly, filling in wins on the same line. He’s joined by more of a featherweight and he’s the diagonal wild card, working in a similar way but with symbols at an angle.

When the two opponents come together, we can of course expect some fireworks between them and landing them on adjacent reels can lead to the boxing feature with mini bonuses. If the straight wild appears on the third reel with the diagonal wild either side of him, he’ll punch his opponent to the end of the board, meaning either reel one or reel five, leaving a trail of wilds in his wake and guaranteeing three wild cards in a row.

The diagonal wild can hold his own too, as evidenced by any occurrence where he appears diagonally to his straight counterpart. The symbol that links them together turns into an additional wild card and all three will freeze in place while a free respin plays out.

Fisticuffs is actually far more complex as a game than it is given credit for and the best way to make sense of exactly what is going on is of course to play it for yourself. We’ve got the full, free version of the game right here at Games Mania at the top of the review, and when you’re comfortable with how it plays out and want to have a go for cash, you can do exactly that over at one of our highly recommended NetEnt partner casinos!
