Holmes and the Stolen Stones
Holmes and the Stolen Stones from Yggdrasil
It certainly seems like old Sherlock Holmes has received a bit of a boost in popularity recently – or perhaps that should be a resurgence. Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller have all played the character in recent times and the first of them also appeared in an online slot game from IGT entitled Sherlock Holmes and the Hunt for Blackwood. This game is not tied in to a movie or television show, but still represents Yggdrasil at their creative best as Holmes and the Stolen Stones packs in the great visuals that we have come to know and love along with some excellent bonuses and features too.
Twenty Lines of Detective Action
If we had to take a guess at how many lines would be on offer on any given slot game from the developer, we would go with twenty and would be bang on the money here on this one. The symbols that are put together over those lines are great lookers too, with some of the leading characters and themed items being joined by the playing card suit symbols which simply look so much nicer than the ranks that are used on many other games. Somewhat unusually, there is no wild card to be found anywhere here on this game, but that is made up for somewhat by the fact that there are two different bonus symbols – and a separate feature linked to each of them.
Stolen Stones Free Spins
The Stolen Stones of the name are actually very important on this game. You’ll notice that each reel has five segments above it, and they represent the Stones. When you find one on the reels, they will fill in the segment above and filling one of those meters will trigger the free spins bonus round. Alternatively, you can also look out for three keyhole scatters in view at the same time. Either way, you’ll pick up ten free spins. If you manage to trigger them using Stones, you’ll find that one segment of the corresponding colour is already filled in above a reel and this can be very important. That’s because during the free spins, you’re not only looking to win as much as possible but will also be hoping to fill in a full set of segments. Do so successfully and you’ll instantly pick up the corresponding jackpot prize.
The other bonus symbol is a slightly older looking keyhole and you’ll once again be looking to land three of them in view at the same time in order to trigger a bonus feature. You’ll be taken to a warehouse that is packed with boxes and you’ll be able to keep on picking from them until you uncover the smoke bomb. You may find cash, or you may also find Stolen Stones which are transferred back into the base game after this feature ends.
Holmes and the Stolen Stones is impressively put together and we can have no complaints at all about the quality of the action on offer here. The addition of jackpot prizes is a rare but welcome treat too and to take a shot at them you will of course be looking to play for real cash.
