When Pigs Fly
When Pigs Fly! from NetEnt
As you’ll know if you’ve checked out our review of Karaoke Party or indeed many other recent Microgaming releases, we’re not necessarily the biggest fans of games that are clones of each other. Sometimes it works, such as on the various themed variations of Siberian Storm from IGT, and sometimes it just feels like a lazy way to keep a release schedule ticking over. Here on When Pigs Fly! it could be considered to be a bit of both, as we all know that NetEnt’s biggest upcoming release is Motorhead in a couple of months. However, they do not make a habit of it and When Pigs Fly! also clones a game that can be hard to find anywhere else, that being Reel Rush. If you’ve never played that one, you’re more than welcome to check it out here on the site but for now, let’s see what this game has going for it.
An Unusual Board and an Even More Unusual Theme
If we had to compare the theme on this game to anything, it would probably be the old Jetsons cartoons. There’s a vintage cartoon style throughout and both pigs and humans make an appearance on the reels. Space itself does of course play a major part and players may be taken aback initially by the board layout. Reels one and five only display a single symbol, for example, with three on reels two and four and five down the middle. However, that is them at their smallest and things are sure to get bigger and better from there.
Wilds and Bonus Spins
The wild is self-explanatory enough, appearing randomly on all but the first and fifth reels and filling in for any other symbol. There are no scatters or other bonus icons on this game either, so players really can substitute the wild in for anything else. However, the main goal unsurprisingly enough is to land a win. That goes for most slot games but here you’ll not only pick up a prize, but see the reels grow before your eyes. That makes it easier to land a subsequent win as the number of win lines grows with the board and this process will continue until you manage to hit six wins in a row. By this point, the board will be at its full size and that means a massive 3,125 ways to win. You don’t just have one spin to take advantage of that huge combination either as hitting those six wins will also trigger eight free spins. The best part is that the 3,125 ways layout is guaranteed to remain for those eight spins, leading to some huge returns.
So, it’s Reel Rush with a new theme, but we’re not going to complain about a bit of variety on such a massive slot game, which is clearly one of the largest online games around. It’s as exciting as always and packed with winning potential, and you can see it all in action by playing either with no deposit above or for real cash at one of our featured online brands that carries NetEnt games.
